The Summit School

Grades 9-12

The Summit School is a private special education high school that provides services for students with emotional and behavioral educational disabilities from approximately twenty-five different school districts. The school offers a standard high school curriculum with the therapeutic component of Adventure Based Counseling that fosters cooperation, builds self-esteem, and instills trust among students and staff. The hands-on approach, based on real-life experiences, helps develop skills necessary for young men and women to succeed as adults. Students are placed at the Summit School by their school districts. Limited enrollment allows for small classes and individual attention.

Staff hold NH Department of Education teaching certifications, and have had received specialized training for their participation and leadership in the Adventure Based Counseling (ABC) component of the program. The ABC program consists of off-site activities approximately once per week, and three-day expeditions approximately two to three times per year. The Summit School offers a summer program for current and prospective students as well as other students deemed appropriate for the services.
