History
In July 1974, RSEC was organized as the Regional Special Education Consortium to provide special education and related services to students from three NH School Administrative Units in the Souhegan region. In 1980, RSEC incorporated as a private not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. Then, in 1990, the name was changed to Regional Services & Education Center, Inc., to reflect the diversity of the agency. Over the years, RSEC has provided school districts in southern New Hampshire with a variety of high quality programs and services. Currently, about 300 students from twenty-eight southern New Hampshire towns attend or receive services through RSEC Programs.
RSEC is governed by a Board of Directors that includes the Superintendent of Schools from SAU 39, 40, and 41, four school board members, and two community members who are elected for three-year terms. The Board of Directors nominates and appoints an Executive Director to administer the operations of the corporation. Member towns are Amherst, Brookline, Hollis, Milford, and Mont Vernon.
