If language is to be adequate for meeting the communicative needs of an individual in school and society, it needs to be flexible enough to service that individual in a variety of contexts or situations.  Via a combined method of speech-language consultation, shared teaching, and direct instruction, students experiencing a language learning challenge can be afforded the opportunity to maximize competancies in a variety of situations.  Written language assessment, math as a language skill and strategies to enhance coomprehension and retrieval (Visualize & Verbalize) are particular areas of interest.  As a speech-language pathologist with more than twenty years experience in rehabilitative and educational settings, the priviledge of working with students dedicated to developing their own individual competencies for success in school and society, and a staff committed to expanding their knowledge of language as it impacts all areas of the curriculum continues to be a work in progress benefitting all.
