Kierstead Grondin
Kierstead has graduated with her masters degree in Special Education from
Simmons College. Her focus was in the area of Language and Literacy. Prior to
that she earned her BS in Elementary/Special Education and BA in Communication
from Keene State College. She performed her student teaching at Hillsboro-Deering
Elementary in both special education and regular education classrooms.
Kierstead has attended workshops that included Discipline and Behavioral
Intervention Procedures, Sexual Harassment & Bullying School Law, Mediation, and
Assistive Technology. She also has certificates in LINKS, Project Read, and
Wilson reading. She continues to seek new information in the area of reading
comprehension and writing.
Kierstead came to the RSEC Academy in 2002 when she was hired as an English
teacher. Kierstead demonstrates an innate and clear understanding regarding the
gifts and challenges of language based disabilities, and is able to provide
appropriate scaffolding for student success. In addition, Kierstead is involved
in the community service program at the Academy. She helps motivate and guide
students to be involved within their communities. She also works with the
student government.
