Deborah received her BS Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Green Mountain College in Vermont.  Her early employment included organizing and supervisiong recreation and enrichment programs for special populations that included the physically and emotionally disabled.

Deborah moved into education when she took a position with the Amherst Middle School as a teaching assistant working with developmentally disabled adolescents. In this role she developed and implementated a behavior management approach, modified the existing curriclum, and took part in daily one on one instruction. This led to a similar position at Souhegan High School where Deborah took on the added responsibility of mentor advisor to regular education students in both the advisor/advisee program and for senior graduation projects.

In September 2002 Deborah was hired as a reading tutor by the RSEC Academy. She provides direct systematic instruction to students with significant reading disabilities. She currently holds many language based certificates that include: LIPS, LINKS, Orton – Gillingham Reading Program, and Project Read- Written Expression and Phonology strands.  In addition, Deborah is working towards a Wilson Reading Certificate and a third strand of Project Read.
