Laura Betts

 

 

 

Ms. Betts has been with The Academy since 1999.  In 2002, she received a BS in Outdoor Education from the University of New Hampshire. She has extensive outdoor, experiential training including, but not limited to, Emergency Medical Response and Management, trip planning and leading, ropes course management, rock climbing, group development and management, and adventure based learning.  She is currently a certified EMT- Basic and Lifeguard.  She is also a First Aid and CPR instructor.

Her roles at The RSEC Academy include: Senior Seminar Teacher/Advisor, 11th and 12th grade Transition Coordinator, Medical Coordinator, Lead Trip Leader and Community Builder, and Independent Skills Teacher. While working at The RSEC Academy she has gained experience and training in LINKS, Learning Disabilities, Visualizing and Verbalizing, Speech and Language, Behavior Management, Special Education Law and Transition Planning.

Ms. Betts is exceptional in her experiential and systematic approach with students in helping them to find and develop their skills and strengths. She is currently completing her credentialing for General Special Education and pursuing her options for continuing her education in Transition and Learning Disabilities.
