The RSEC Academy was part of a state program called Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) that was sponsored by The New Hampshire Center for Effective Behavior Interventions and Supports. We adopted this program in the fall of 2004 and it has become our culture.
The program focuses on and rewards the positive things that students do in order to help those having a hard time understand what they should be doing. Students are pre-taught the expected behaviors in the fall and then reminded on a daily basis by the behavior matrices that hang in all of the classrooms. Below is a copy of the behavior matrix.
| Respect | Self | Excellence | Community |
| Participate Cooperate Practice Emotional Safety Be Trustworthy Use appropriate language and conversations Respect Boundaries Think Safety Take pride in your surroundings |
Develop Self Reliance Be Discipline Challenge yourself Use positive self talk Keep Safe |
Be Present Be Prepared Be Disciplined Do your best Take responsibility for your own actions Cooperate Follow Rules |

When students show these positive behaviors they are given small paper tickets that they put into a raffle for any of 5 gifts such as fast food gift cards or gas cards or movie tickets.
The students tickets build up to earn a large prize at the end of the year. During the 2006-2007 school year students earned a day at The Fischer Cats Baseball stadium to watch a game.
